Hi, I’m Splodge! 👋
Welcome to my colourful corner of Beading Brilliant!
I’m so excited you’ve found me!
I LOVE painting, sticking, cutting, building, experimenting and making wonderfully messy masterpieces. If there’s glitter, paint or glue involved, you’ll probably find me nearby!
But do you know my favourite thing? Helping children discover just how creative they really are. Because here’s a little secret…
Everyone is creative.
Sometimes you just need someone to remind you. And that’s what I’m here for!
💜 My Story
Have you ever wondered where I came from?
Well…
One day, something very magical happened in the Beading Brilliant craft room. Six pots of colourful paint were sitting on the table. Suddenly…
SPLAT!
The pots tipped over and all the colours splashed together! Instead of making a huge mess…they created ME!
Ever since that day, I’ve travelled from craft table to craft table, helping children discover that the best ideas often begin with a little splash of imagination.
Now I spend my days encouraging children to try something new, believe in themselves and have lots of creative fun.

Splodge’s Creative Spotlight is a special place to celebrate the brilliant things children have been busy creating.
It could be a creation you’ve made for one of Splodge’s monthly challenges, something you’ve made at home just because you felt like getting creative, or a project you’re particularly proud of. If you’ve made something you’re excited about, Splodge would love to see it!
There are no rules about what you create and no need for it to be perfect. Splodge wants to celebrate your ideas, your imagination and the things that make your creations uniquely yours.

Every month I set a brand new creative challenge!
Sometimes I’ll ask you to build something amazing. Sometimes I’ll ask you to invent a silly monster. Sometimes we’ll use cardboard. Sometimes we’ll use nature.
The only rule is…

Every challenge is different, so make sure you visit each month to see what’s new.

Splodge reveals his brand new challenge and you can start creating.

Take your time, experiment with different ideas and create something you’re proud of. You can enter as many times as you like.

Splodge chooses his monthly Creative Superstar and announces the winner — then reveals the next challenge!

💬 Splodge’s Monthly Challenge FAQs
Who can take part in Splodge’s Monthly Challenges?
Anyone! Splodge’s challenges are designed to inspire children of all ages and abilities to get creative. Younger children might need a little help from a grown-up, while older children can take the challenge in completely their own direction.
Do we have to follow the challenge exactly?
Absolutely not! Splodge loves seeing where children’s imaginations take them. The ideas on each challenge page are there to inspire you, but children can interpret the challenge however they like.
There are no right or wrong creations, just brilliant ideas!
Do we need special craft supplies?
Nope! Splodge believes you can be creative with whatever you have around you. Use craft supplies, recycled materials, things from the garden or even bits and pieces you already have at home.
Each challenge may have an optional bonus idea, but don’t worry if you don’t have the suggested materials.
Does my child’s creation have to look like Splodge’s example?
Not at all! Splodge isn’t looking for copies. He wants to see your child’s own ideas and imagination. Two children could take the same challenge and create completely different things, and that’s exactly what makes creativity so much fun.
Do adults need to help?
That’s completely up to you and your child. Some children will enjoy creating independently, while younger children may need help with cutting, sticking or using certain materials.
The important thing is to let your child have as much ownership of their creation as possible.
Can we enter the challenge more than once?
Of course! In fact, Splodge would love that. You can interpret the challenge in lots of different ways and create as many versions as you like.
Do we have to complete the challenge during that month?
You can get creative with Splodge’s challenges whenever you like! However, if you’d like your creation to be in with a chance of winning that month’s prize pack, your entry needs to be emailed to us before the closing date shown on the challenge.
🏆 Is there a prize for taking part?
Yes! Each month, Splodge will choose a creative superstar to receive a special prize pack. 🎁
The prize isn’t about creating the most perfect or polished artwork. Splodge will be looking for imagination, creativity, originality and the fun idea behind the creation.
Every child’s creation is special, and everyone who takes part should feel proud of what they’ve made — but there can only be one monthly prize winner!
🌟 What are you looking for when choosing a winner?
Splodge loves creations that show imagination, creativity and individuality. He’ll be looking at things such as:
- 🎨 Creativity – an interesting or imaginative idea
- 💡 Originality – putting their own spin on the challenge
- 🌈 Imagination – thinking beyond the obvious
- 😊 Fun – showing that they’ve enjoyed being creative
- 💜 Their own ideas – rather than simply copying an example
You don’t need expensive materials, fancy equipment or perfect crafting skills to win. Splodge is much more interested in the brilliant ideas behind each creation!

When do Splodge’s Monthly Challenges open and close?
A new Splodge challenge launches on the first Monday of every month, giving you the whole month to get creative!
Entries for that month’s prize pack close on the last Friday of the month. Splodge will then choose his Creative Superstar, with the winner announced on the first Monday of the following month — when the next challenge launches too!
There’s no need to rush your creativity, but make sure your entry reaches us before the closing date if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning. 🌈🏆
How will Splodge use the photos and details we send?
We’d love to celebrate your child’s creativity by featuring their creation in Splodge’s Creative Spotlight on our website. We may also share selected entries on our social media channels.
We will never tag or identify parents or children in our posts. If you give permission, we may include your child’s first name, age and some of the information you provide about their creation alongside their entry.
What does Splodge’s Monthly Challenge teach children?
Splodge’s challenges aren’t about teaching children to make one particular craft. They’re about encouraging creativity, imagination, curiosity and confidence. Children get to experiment, make their own choices and discover that their ideas are worth exploring.
Splodge’s biggest message is simple: you don’t have to be perfect to be creative. Just have a go, have fun and see where your imagination takes you! 💜
