These are a great quick crafty project, that will keep the kids entertained for a bit. They can unleash their creativity without making too much mess. So if you hear the chorus of “I’m bored” this festive holiday, open up this blog, grab some paper and pens and make some festive bookmarks.

You will need:
- Paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Pens and Pencils
Your paper needs to be a square to start. If you are using an A4 piece of paper, fold one corner over until it meets to opposite edge, forming a triangle. Trim the excess rectangle.
My paper is 15cm square. You can use any size, but this is good size to use as a bookmark.
Now to the folding…

Bring one corner to meet the opposite corner, making a triangle. Open it out and repeat in the other direction.

Fold down the top point to meet the base of your triangle. Only fold on layer of paper here.

Bring one of the sides in to the middle of the base of your triangle. Repeat for the other side.

Open these out. Bring the side point up to meet the top point. Repeat on the other side.

Tuck these points into the pocket. Straighten them out so that they lay flat.

Your basic book mark is finished.
Move onto decorating…
You can make your bookmark into what ever you’d like. Have a go at these variations, or come up with your own design.
Rudolph: Add antlers, a nose and some eyes to make Rudolph. Glue the antlers to top layer of your pocket, just inside your bookmark. They will then. sit on top of the page in your book.
Christmas Tree: Cut a few small notches from the side to create a tree. Be careful not to cut too much or your basic bookmark will fall apart. Add some coloured stickers, or draw the decrations on with oens and pencils.

Santa Hat: Cut a white trip and stick to the edge of your bookmark. Add a white bobble to the point.
Elf Hat: Make a similar hat to Santa, but with green paper. Maybe add some stripes and some ears to the edge.
Snowman: Use white paper and draw or stick a carrot nose on the point. Draw snowman eyes, and maybe stick a hat on as well.
Present: Draw or stick coloured paper across the front in both directions to look like a bow. Add a bow on one side.
