Rudolph Pine Cone

If your kids are anything like mine, they love to collect interesting pine cones on our trips out. I have so many kicking around the place, its getting a bit ridiculous. So we had a go a making those extra pine cones into Rudolphs. Its a quick and simple craft, but one the kids will love. You don’t have to use a glue gun if you dont want to. Standard PVA will work just as well, but will take a lot longer to dry.

You will need…

  • pine cones
  • googly eyes
  • a red pompom
  • small twigs
  • cool melt glue gun and glue
  • brown felt
  • ribbon or string
Materials for making a reindeer from a pine cone, including a pine cone, googly eyes, a red pompom, small twigs, brown felt, ribbon, and a cool melt glue gun.

Let’s get making…

Firstly, tie your ribbon around the middle of your pine cone. This will be how you hang up your reindeer, so make sure it is relatively balanced. Mine is a little far back and my Rudolph looks like he is doing a bit of a nose dive.

Cut out ear shapes from the brown felt. Make sure they are an appropriate size for your pine cone.

Glue the ears and antlers to your pine cone. These will sit a little further back than the ribbon. But this will depend on the sizer and shape of your pine cone. Try a few places out before you glue anything down. Glue the googly eyes and nose in place.
