These are super cute and festive Snowman pencils. We made these in crafty club last week and they were a massive hit. We had snowmen with earmuffs, and with top hats. Some had scarves, some didn’t. I love how easy these are to customise and make your own. What will your snowman look like?
You will need…
- a pencil
- 2 large white pompoms (about 5cm in diameter)
- black and orange felt
- pipe cleaners
- small pompoms
- small black buttons
- a small legnth of ribbon
- tacky glue or fabric glue
Let’s get making…
If you pencil isn’t sharp already, sharpen it now. Very carefully push the sharp end of your pencil through one of the white pompoms. Twisting whilst pushing is the most effective method, but please be very careful not to push the pencil into your hands. Do the same with the second pompom. Slide them both to the blunt end of your pencil, but be careful not to push them too far.
Eyes and Nose: Cut out eyes and a nose from black and orange felt, and glue them in place. You could also make a nose from some orange pipe cleaner
Earmuffs: Bend the pipe cleaner into a u shape and place over the snowman’s head. Trim your pipe cleaner if it is a bit long. Add a small amount of glue to each side of the snowman’s head, where the pipe cleaner finishes. Stick a small pompom to each side and hold in place for a few seconds so the glue takes hold.
Top Hat: Wrap a length of pipe cleaner in a spiral until you have the height of hat you would like. Glue the spiral onto the top of your snowman’s head.
Scarf: Tie a small length of ribbon around the snowman’s neck to create a scarf
Buttons: Glue some buttons or felt pieces on for buttons. Maybe some sparkly pompoms are more to your snowman’s liking.
Arms: Use pipe cleaners to create rms for your snowman.
