Cone Trees

These were another fabulous hit in Crafty Club this week. Super simple and effective. They will take time and patience, but it is totally worth the effort. You can decorate them with whatever festive embellishments you have to hand, or leave them as plain trees.

You will need…

  • cardboard cones. These are readily available in craft stores and online in a variety of sizes.
  • small pompoms or other festive embellishments
  • Pipe cleaner trees: pipe cleaners, cool melt hot glue
  • String trees: coloured string, pva glue

Let’s get making…

I have given you a couple of options here for your trees. Go with the one that you prefer, or why not make both.

Pipe Cleaner Tree

Cut your pipe cleaners into half, then half agin. Fold each piece in half. These will be your branches.

Starting at the bottom of your cone, and using the cool melt hot glue, stick the folded pipe cleaners onto the cobne. Keep going around and around until you reach the top.

Add embellishments as you’d like. These could be coloured pompoms to represent baubles, or coloured string to represent tinsel

String Tree

Starting at the bottom, and using pva glue, wrap your string around the cone in a spiral. Avoid gaps between your string rounds. we dont want to see the cone underneath.

Add embellisments as prefered.
