With just a few materials, you can make a beautiful snowflake decoration for your Christmas Tree, or window display. vary the colours and sizes to suit your decor.
You will need…
- about 50g yarn in your choice of colour
- sharp scissors
- scrap cardboard about 10cm wide
- beads or embellishments (optional)

Let’s get making…
Cut 13, 20cm lengths of yarn, and put to one side. You’ll need these for tying your snowflake later.
Wrap your yarn around the cardboard until you have a large bundle.

Thread one of the 20cm lengths through the centre of the bundle and tie tightly.

Cut the opposite side.

Lay your bundle out on a flat surface. Straighten the lengths a little with your fingers.

Divide your yarn into 6 even bundles, tying each one with one of the 20cm lengths. Make sure you are tying every strand in each bundle. Turn your snowflake over to check you haven’t missed any strands.

Divide each arm into two. Tie two halves together. Don’t forget to check you have every stand in each bundle.

Trim the edges of your yarn to neaten it up a little.
Add beads or embellishments if you’d like. You can glue them onto the yarn, or tie them to each joint with some yarn or thread.

Hang up your snowflake
