Reindeer Crispy Cakes

These are super quick and easy to make, and with very little washing up. The perfect festive treat for kids to make.

Time to complete: 30-45 mins
Difficulty: Easy
Adult Help: 🌳🌳 Adult-led – Children can help measure, mix and decorate the crispy cakes, but an adult should handle any melting chocolate and hot equipment. Younger children need supervision around the kitchen stages.

You will need…

12 cupcake cases

150g cooking chocolate (I used milk here, but you can use dark chocolate if you prefer)

50g butter

2 tbsp honey

120g rice crispy cereal

24 pretzels

24 edible eyes

12 red smarties

Let’s get making…

Lay out your cupcake cases into a 12 hole muffin tray. A tray is not essential, but it will make filling and cooling the reindeer cakes easier later. Melt honey, chocolate and butter together in a large bowl. I prefer to use the bain-marie method here, but you can also melt your mixture in the microwave if you’d prefer. Be careful not to overheat it.

Melted chocolate mixture in a glass bowl with a wooden spoon.

Once all of your mixture is melted and mixed together, stir in crispies. Gently mix them together until the crispies are completely coated in chocolate.

Spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases.

Quickly add the eyes, pretzels and a nose to each cake. You don’t want the chocolate to set before you have added the reindeers features.

Put the tray in the fridge to chill for an hour or so.
