There is loads of potential with this one. Lots of scope for variations to make this little Gonk unique.
You will need:
- Chunky yarn. I have used white here, but you can choose whatever colour you’d like.
- Twine or string. This will be used to hang your Gonk, so choose a string that is strong.
- A large wooden bead
- A mini flower pot (I have used a pot approximately 5cm, but you can use whatever size you like)
- Optional: paints, pens, glue and embellishments
Lets get making
Cut a length of chunky yarn about 20cm long. Lay this over your hand in line with your fingers.
Wrap the remaining chunky yarn around your hand.
Tie the ends of the shorter length together around the wrapped yarn.
Thread the thin jute string through the wooden bead so that it is in the centre of the string. Tie the two ends together across the top of the bead.
Tie the string around the centre of your chunk yarn bundle, making sure the bead hangs down a couple of centimetres below the centre of the chunky yarn bundle.
Thread both ends through the centre of the upside down mini flower pot. Tie together to create a hanging loop.
Variations
Can’t find a suitable flower pot? Use a sheet of felt and some fabric glue (or needle and thread) to create a cone shaped hat for your Gonk.
Why not decorate your bead and your flower pot before you put your Gonk together. Use paints, or pens. You could stick buttons and other embellishments to the flower pot to create a truly unique hat. You could also use different colours of yarn and create a colourful family of flower pot Gonks!
